D. Jack Solomon

Biography:

D. Jack Solomon received a BA degree in Art from San Diego State University and an MA degree in painting from San Francisco State University. He also attended, El Camino Collage in Torrance, CA, the University of California at Los Angeles, The Art Center in Los Angeles, and Mills College in Oakland California. His teaching career began in 1967 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where he was a tenured faculty in the Department of Painting and Printmaking. He moved to New York City in 1974. He has taught at the Brooklyn Museum School of Art, New York State University at Purchase, and at the New York State University at New Paltz. And, for 28 years he taught drawing at Parsons, The New School For Design in New York City. He is now retired. During the 1996 – 97 academic-year, he was among a small group of instructors that were sent to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to initiate a Parsons’ affiliate school – Center for Advance Design. He has also been invited as a visiting artist and lecturer at numerous Universities in the Midwest and on the East Coast, including Ohio State University, and an artist in residence at Altos de Chavon in the Dominican Republic. Mr. Solomon is a painter who has exhibited widely in one-person and group exhibitions throughout the United States. He has received many artist grants including the National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist grant for painting and the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant. He is represented in numerous public, corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia. The Fox Gallery NYC represents him in New York.
