Kate Butler

Kate Butler studied Art History and Historic Preservation at the College of Charleston, SC. She lives and works in Upstate New York.

I am interested in the interplay between materials, mind and the human hand. The idea, if there is one, is to create works that are more like living creatures than "paintings." Curiosity spurs action. The desire to see what a dog sees with it's nose, the plethora of ways color can assume and be assigned meaning lends itself to hours in the studio.
